Congratulations to ICAO on its 80th anniversary
FAI extends its heartfelt congratulations the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) on the occasion of its 80th anniversary.
The milestone was recently commemorated with an Extraordinary Session of the Governing Council, "highlighting the continued impact of the Convention on International Civil Aviation (Chicago Convention)".
FAI President Greg Principato stated on this occasion:
"1944 was a critical year in aviation. The conclusion of the Chicago Convention and the creation of ICAO gave us the framework that, to this day, makes international aviation, including air sports, possible. We may take this for granted, but the creation of ICAO was the result of hard work and great vision. All of us are in their debt, and all of us have the responsibility to continue to promote the growth of aviation in all aspects, including air sports."
