FAI Hang Gliding and Paragliding Commission (CIVL) and Real Federación Aeronáutica Española (the NAC of Spain)  have approved FAI 2 status for the first-ever paragliding hike and fly competition. "Pyrenees International Hike&Fly Ozone Open & Spanish Championship" will be held on Jun 7 - Jun 9, 2024 in Port De Suert, Spain. The organizers of this event were the first to open the registration on CIVLcomps.org well before when the FAI Hike and Fly project was still in the final stage of discussion. So we are happy to announce that as soon as 2024 Plenary has voted to add this discipline to CIVL family, the NAC of Spain and the organizer have applied for FAI 2 status, which was granted providing other requirements were fulfilled.

Please note that it will still take a few days to make this event published on fai.org calendar. The work to update FAI DB with a new discipline is in progress and will be finished soon. If you are going to apply for FAI Hike and Fly please follow the general instructions on this page. The only difference is that until FAI DB is updated it is not possible to submit applications via AMS. So if you have an event coming soon and are in a hurry to apply, instead of completing the application on ams.fai.org you can download the form here, fill it in, and send it with your NAC's approval to CIVL competition coordinator by email.
