As the Polish F1E aeromodelling team returned to their country from Romania after the 2023 FAI F1E World Championship for Free Flight Slope Soaring Gliders, their luggage must have been much heavier with all the medals from their successful flights!

At the competition which took place between 1-4 August 2023 in Turda, Romania, there were Polish golds for both team categories – senior and junior, as Konrad Żurowski won the champion title in the senior category, holding onto his 2022 position, and Paulia Szumska gained the title for the individual juniors and individual junior female.

Special mention must also go to Nadiia Arkhypska (UKR) and Eleonora V. Pavlova (BUL) who won silver and bronze respectively in senior individuals, plus gold and silver respectively on the female podium.

Girl power continued to shine in the junior individuals, because next to Paulina Szumska on the podium in both junior and junior female, was Italy’s Elisa Vanzo. Germany’s female pilots Kristin Winker (senior female) and Carina Lammersmann Gozalo (junior female) both took a bronze medals. Germany won silver in the senior team category, ahead of the Czech Republic. Théo Laura of France gained a bronze in the Junior individuals, helping his team take a silver, with Romania in third place.

Overall, 37 individual pilots participated in the seniors category, of whom 9 were female. In the juniors category, 17 pilots competed, of whom 5 were female.
