Spreading the word: the 1st FAI World Drone Racing Championships press conference
The FAI travelled to Shenzhen in China earlier this month to take part in a press conference to promote the first-ever FAI World Drone Racing Championships – due to take place in Shenzhen later this year.
Attended by FAI officials including Secretary General Susanne Schödel and Executive Director Bengt Lindgren, the press conference also involved a number of important representatives of both the organising committee and local government.
It was a great opportunity to spread the word about the forthcoming championships: the most exciting event on the drone racing calendar!
“We are delighted with the way the preparations are going so far, and feel confident this inaugural edition of the Championships, to be held in Shenzhen, southern China, will be a fantastic event that is remembered for many years to come,” Schödel said in her speech to members of the press.
“I would like to take this chance to thank the organisers the Aero Sports Federation of China (ASFC) and Kaisa Group, as well as the local government in Shenzhen, for all the time and effort they have put in to ensure this first edition of the Championships is a great success.”
About the FAI World Drone Racing Championships
The FAI World Drone Racing Championships will take place in the fast-growing city of Shezhen, a world-renowned centre for innovation and technology that is located in southern China close to Hong Kong, from November 1 to 4, 2018.
Open to competitors selected either by their national team or by the FAI, the event will be held in the Universiade Shenzhen stadium and will include classifications for both female and junior pilots, in addition to the general individual and national team classifications.
Competitors must successfully pass through qualification and elimination rounds to reach the final, where they will battle it out to be crowned an FAI Drone Racing World Champion.
It will be a unique live experience for drone sports fans and stakeholders alike, as well as consumers interested in future technologies linked to drone usage.
