Update: FAI World Drone Racing Championships
Calling all drone racing fans! The FAI has today released a joint statement – in conjunction with the Aero Sports Federation of China (ASFC) – revealing the latest details about the next edition of the FAI World Drone Racing Championships.
The statement, which confirms the event will take place between November 2019 and early 2020, also includes further information for all those hoping to take part.

Dear Drone Racing Pilots and Fans,
The first edition of the FAI World Drone Racing Championship (FAI WDRC) 2018, which took place in Shenzhen, the People's Republic of China, brought the best of racing sports and many unforgettable emotions.
Great media coverage enabled us to present drone sport to followers around the world.
The first FAI WDRC set a very high standard, and so, with even greater enthusiasm, we are currently preparing for the second edition of the FAI WDRC. We know that you are waiting for more details, and work is in progress, with some details still to be determined.
The event is scheduled to take place at the end of this year, as planned, between November 2019 and early 2020 (before the beginning of the new season). We anticipate being able to share with you the details of the exact date and venue by August 2019 at the latest.
The local organiser will provide support with the visa process in order to expedite your planning.
Regarding participation in the next FAI WDRC, please refer to the 2019 WDRC Grand Final Sporting Rules, which were made available on 1 May 2019.
Participation is foreseen for:
- Individual competitors qualified from the 2019 FAI World Cup results
- National Teams
- Other individual competitors
