Bio
Jake began serious competitive drone racing in 2019 at age 13. He was very active on the Unites States race scene through MultiGP and was one of its top competitors ranked in the Top 10 on its Global Leaderboard from 2020 through 2023. In 2022, Jake qualified in 3rd place in the global draft for the Drone Champions League (DCL) and was selected by Quad Force One for the 2022 DCL Season. He made his FAI Drone World Cup debut in 2022 in Korea.
In 2023, he completed a full FAI World Cup season ending with the most World Cup points by an American pilot across the events in Italy, Germany and France. This earned him a wildcard invitation to the 2023 FAI World Drone Racing Championship in Namwon, Korea. The 2023 Championship was his best racing experience to-date. Jake made it to the podium during that event taking 2nd Place in the Junior Category Championship race.
In 2024 he compted in the French and Italian World Cups and already in 2025 has raced in Riyadh.
As with anyone who competes at the highest levels of any sport, Jake enjoys the competition and the adrenaline rush during race heats. But, because of FAI, his biggest enjoyment has been discovering new cultures and meeting new people and establishing life-long friendships with people across the globe. Jake is motivated to use the lessons learned in drone racing such as problem solving, stress management and interpersonal skills gained by working with international companies and competitors in whatever his next phase of life brings.
Drone racing taught Jake to not be afraid to try new things that take you beyond your comfort zone. Whether that is trying to learn a new skill, exploring new places or interacting with people who may not speak your language or share your up-bringing. He says, "One of the biggest issues we face is isolation and I think we could all learn to trust each other a little more by starting with learning about each other. We compete with each other in sports but sports are also a great vehicle to bring us together."
Other activities
Jake is currently finishing his first year at Michigan State University where he was accepted into the Broad School of Business. He is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance. Currently, Jake is exploring ways to combine the strong STEM skillset that he has developed through drone racing with his studies in finance in a future business career.
THE World Games 2025
What are your goals for this competition?
"I know quite a few of the World Games representatives through my international racing and I plan to give them a run for the podium."
How are you training for the event?
"International racing through FAI is so different from any other race format. There is no better way to prepare than to participate. I was recently invited to the the 2025 FAI Drone Racing World Cup event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and depending on my university schedule, I may try to add another World Cup to my schedule. I plan to work with my sponsors to ensure I have the best equipment going into The World Games and I will surely be on our local practice track heavily later this spring leading into the summer."
What do you think it will be like for you at The World Games?
"I expect to be emotional as I walk out for the opening ceremony. Representing the USA is a big responsibility. I also expect to meet more friends in other sports and be inspired by them."
